The holiday season is almost here, and for many business owners, it's the busiest time of the year. While it's tempting to dive into celebrations and relax, the reality is that taking your foot off the gas now could leave you scrambling to get back on track in January.
As the year wraps up, it’s easy to overlook your usual operational processes. But consistency is key—even during the holidays.
Here are my key dos and don'ts to help you stay on track:
✅ Stick to your daily and weekly review meetingsThese are especially important if your fiscal year ends on December 31st.
• Daily: Focus on the processes that directly deliver your products or services. While it’s fun to turn your morning team meeting into a coffee and baked goods session, make sure you cover the business basics first.
• Weekly: Review key business metrics and track progress on your 90-day plan. It can be tempting to turn your weekly review into an office holiday party or cancel it altogether due to peak vacation season. Commit to covering your scorecard results and reviewing the progress of weekly action plan items.
❌ Avoid kicking off new major projectsNow is not the time to start new initiatives. Save any big launches or projects for January, when you can give them your full attention.
✅ Schedule time for future planningIf you haven’t already, block out time to work on your 2025 goals and strategy. The start of the new year will be much smoother if you’re prepared!
